Mexico, here we come

"Down south of the border.....down Mexico way."

Crossing the Rio Grande on foot.....

(too afraid to drive the car.)

The longer you're together, the more you dress alike.
Heading into to Mexico to shop.

Pancho Villa rides again.

His beautiful bride is on a "mission."  Something special for family members.

Oh I'm a long, tall Texan.... I ride a big white horse.
A good time ends with a great Mexican meal.  Can you say "imodium?"

Party at the Dog Park: Jan, 2012

John and Buddy getting some guy time at the dog park.

I throw the ball.

I run at blinding speed!
Dogs are born to party and here they are! There was a dog birthday party.  Oh yeah.  with dog cake, goodie bags for good dogs, friends meeting friends.  The birthday girl is the one with the birthday crown.
It's my party and I'll bark if I want to....

Hi, I'm Tooie.  Happy Birthday.

Thanks for inviting me to
your party.

Struttin  her stuff on the high wire.

Professional photographer looking for
that special shot.

Greg is ready for play and treats.

Birthday dog shows off her talents.

Nice dog play park.

These jumps are a breeze for me.  What?
they're just the marks?

Now what in the world is going on over there in the dog park?

Ok, now I can do this weaving pole thing.

On the high wire with birthday dog.

Ok, can you get them to jump that jump one more time??

Just like Chucky Cheese for dogs.

Is there more dog cake?
Going down is a little scary.
A good drink can get ya through the course.

On the Rio Grande

It's friends day on the Rio Grande.   We went.   We took friends.   We met friends.  Off to the Riverside on the Rio Grande for some margaritas and food.  It was a beautiful, sunny day.  Not too hot, not too windy.  We had a great time.

John and Becky

We  made a stop by this old Mission

A look into Mexico.

The six of us plus two more from Ohio.

Carl and John waiting patiently for their beer.

At last!  Thirst abated.

Was this stuff brewed in TN?

Happy woman with a strawberry margarita.

Look at the size of that sandwich.

They put the whole cow on the bun!

Looking west up the Rio Grande.
Anyone for a tour boat ride?

and a good time was had by all.

Polewach on the Road 2012

The year started with my birthday celebration.  We had dinner at the Olive Garden since I always choose Italian on my birthday.   Dale got me a lovely patio chair, electric scissors, and numerous goodies.  Cards, flowers from my friends, man oh man I had a great day.
A birthday gift for myself!

We made another trip to the State Park to see some more of the colorful Texas birds.

My dog park friend, Judy also has a January birthday so we were off to Tony Romas to celebrate again.  Birthday cake was actually a trip to Ben and Jerry's ice cream.  No one actually had any room left for dessert but we managed somehow.

Norm and Shelley join Judy, Carl, Dale and I for
some cocktails on our patio.

Judy is an awesome dog photographer and travels around the country with her husband, Carl taking photographs of dogs at dog shows.  Here are two photos she made for me.  We're thinking of making pillows out of them.

Quintan Matzalan State Park

This State Park is part of the Texas Birding Trail.  It also has a historical adobe home.  Very impressive both inside and out.

Nice fireplace and the tile work was remarkable.
Tub or indoor pool????

It was a blast from the past walking through this lovely historic home.

Hildago Pumphouse

The Hildago Pumphouse is now a museum, but back in the early 1900's it supplied water to all the Farms in the Rio Grande Valley.  Water was pumped from the Rio Grande and then flowed across the valley in canals aided by the force of gravity.   The Pumphouse still had a couple of Christmas displays up and I was thrilled to see my friend Elvis in front of Graceland.

Hey is that Elvis by Graceland?

This was part of a Christmas
display at the Pumphouse
